Forest Hills Park shooting suspect in custody of Charlottesville police

Less than 24 hours after a 13-year-old girl was shot in the leg at Forest Hills Park, at 1000 Forest Hills Avenue, Charlottesville police say they have a suspect in custody and continue to investigate the incident. The Charlottesville Newsplex reports that the suspect is a teenage boy.

A news release from city spokesman Ric Barrick says the victim was treated at UVA Hospital and released. "The shooting was a result of an altercation between several subjects and it is believed that the victim of the shooting was not the intended target," according to the release. The shooting took place at approximately 6:10pm yesterday.
