Election Day: James Brown, Deeds and Fenwick supporters at Alumni Hall

I arrived at Alumni Hall a few minutes before 11am. Most parking spots were filled at the time, but the action must’ve been confined to the voting booths, because it was calm and neighborly outside the hall. Four members of Democrat Creigh Deeds’ gubernatorial campaign stood together, a single volunteer for independent City Council candidate Bob Fenwick sat nearby, and Democratic city Sheriff candidate James Brown stepped forward to say hello.

A member of the Deeds campaign estimated that the group had seen roughly 200 voters at Alumni Hall since polls opened at 6am. Not necessarily a lot of first-time voters; Brown said that most of the people passing through seem to have "been involved with the process" previously. Brown wore a few of his own stickers, and a few "David Brown/Kristin Szakos" buttons for his fellow party members and City Council candidates.

A few posters and signs for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell stood nearby; a member of the Deeds campaign observed that she was "standing in front of" one of them. More later from other voting stations, including Venable School.
