Show by local rap act Stack Boyz shut down due to brawl [UPDATE]

At a little past 1am on Saturday morning, a gig by local hip-hop crew Stack Boyz at Is Venue was broken up when a fistfight—the second of the evening—broke out among members of the crowd. Roughly a dozen Charlottesville Police Department vehicles blocked off West Main Street near the corner of Seventh Street NW as the audience fled the venue and hired security personnel ushered a few more members of the crowd out; at least one unidentified male was taken into custody.

C-VILLE first wrote about Stack Boyz in December 2007, after a shooting took place in the parking lot of local music venue Outback Lodge during an "underground hip-hop night."* (Links to MySpace pages of Stack Boyz can be found here along with other local hip-hop musicians) In fact, Feedback was on-hand for the gig to catch up with the Stack Boyz and review the evening’s show—something he still plans to do in next week’s C-VILLE.

In the meantime, here are two photos from the scene:

Additionally, a member of the Charlottesville Police Department was spotted flushing his eyes with water at the scene after catching a whiff of a fellow officer’s pepper spray. "That’s why I don’t spray anyone," he said in a controlled voice to onlookers at a neighboring restaurant. Unintended consequences all around.

*Correction: The group performing on the night of the shooting outside of Outback Lodge was Heavy Hustle Entertainment, not Stack Boys, as was previously written.
