The Charlottesville City Democratic Party has set May 9 for it’s first "firehouse primary." The Charlottesville Democratic Committee voted on February 12 to change its old system of a closed door caucus in favor or a full day of voting more similar to the state primary system.
Any registered voters in the city are eligible to vote—so long as they sign a loyalty pledge to the Democratic Party vowing to support the selected candidates in the general election. Voting will take place from 9am to 7pm at Burley Middle School.
They will be asked to vote for two City Councilors, City Sheriff, City Treasurer, Commissioner of Revenue, and Commonwealth’s Attorney.
