(7-3) Wahoos Welcome Norfolk State Monday Night to the JPJ (7 p.m)

Tony Bennett’s Wahoos play the third game of an eight-game home-stand Monday night at the JPJ as Norfolk State comes to town. Virginia has won four games in a row, and has never played Norfolk State in hoops.

Both Mike Scott (ankle surgery), and Will Sherrill (broken leg) are still recovering from injuries and will be unavailable Monday night. Surprisingly, 5-11 Jontel Evans is the only Hoo to start every game this season.

Freshman Joe Harris leads Virginia in three-pointers made with 19, and K.T. Harrell is coming off his best performance of his freshman campaign where he scored 20 points in the win against Oregon.

Virginia is averaging less than 9000 (really less than 6000 if you count the butts in seats attendance) per game at home this season, and I expect this game to very poorly attended due to the students being away for the Holidays, and the 1-7 record of their opponent.

Norfolk State plays in the MEAC, and has lost six games in a row. Kyle O’Quinn is Norfolk State’s best defensive player, and offensively averages 15.4 PPG. Rob Hampton averages 15.8 PPG, and is their three-point specialist.

Go Hoos! Virginia should play everyone on their roster that is healthy, and should win by 30 points. Prediction? Hoos 80 Spartans 50.
