The #1 UVA Lax team stayed perfect on their young season as they won a huge game in Ithaca, New York against #8 Cornell. Virginia goalie Adam Ghitelman (Syosset, NY) grabbed a game-high 5 ground balls as he also made 14 saves.
Virginia (6-0) outshot Cornell (4-1) 40-29, and won the face-off battle as well,11-9. The Hoos had 8 different players score in the contest. Twins, Shamel and Rhamel Bratton (Huntington Station, NY), scored two goals a piece for the Hoos, as did Chris Bocklet (South Salem, NY).
Cornell eliminated Virginia from the NCAA Tournament last season, and this was the first time the Wahoos had played a game at Cornell since 1974. Virginia next plays Tuesday, as Vermont comes to town. The Catamounts are coached by former Wahoo Ryan Curtis, who was the 2000 National Defenseman of the Year. Face-off begins at 7 p.m. Go Hoos!
